The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 754

Joanna glanced at Moss. “Why is Jessa so stubborn? David obviously doesn’t have feelings for her. You can’t just force a marriage like that.”

Moss knew Jessa well. In the whole city, no one compared to David. Jessa wanted the best, the most powerful man there was, and she wasn’t about to give up on that dream.

He used to hope David would marry Jessa, just because she was his daughter. But three years had passed, and David’s heart was still with Ella.

Moss let out a sigh. “I’ll talk to her, when I get a chance.”

Joanna nodded. “Alright. Let’s go back to our room. Your back’s still hurting. Let me put some ointment on it.”

After dinner, Ella and Lola headed to their room. Ella started to run a bath for Lola.

Lola grinned. “Mommy, Mr. Harmon left earlier and didn’t come back. Is he super busy?”

Ella had no clue what David was doing. “I think he probably had to go to his office. He runs a really big company, with a lot of people counting on him.”

Lola pouted, looking worried. “He must be so tired.”

Ella gave Lola’s little nose a playful tap. “So you feel bad for Mr. Harmon, but not for me? That makes me jealous, you know.”

“Mommy, you’re my favorite!” Lola leaned in and gave Ella a big kiss on the cheek.

Soon enough, Ella finished bathing Lola and wrapped her up in a towel, then settled her on the bed. “Here, you can look at your storybook for a bit. Mommy’s going to take a quick shower.”

Lola nodded. “Okay.”

Ella disappeared into the bathroom. Lola opened her storybook, flipping through the pictures. Just then, the bedroom door opened. David stood in the doorway, tall and confident.

Lola’s eyes sparkled. “Mr. Harmon!”

David had come straight to their room. The warm, soft light made the whole place feel cozy. Lola, fresh from her bath in her little yellow pajamas, looked like the cutest, sweetest thing in the world. She beamed at him.

David felt all the stress of his day just melt away. His heart softened.

This was his daughter.

No wonder he’d felt drawn to Lola the very first time he saw her.
