Joanna started to speak. “Look, what I’m trying to say is—”
Jessa cut her off, annoyed and sharp. “I honestly don’t care who you are. Not interested. Right now, you’ve ruined my dress, so I want you on your knees apologizing.”
Joanna’s eyebrows shot up. “And what if I say no?”
Jessa scoffed. “Then don’t blame me for what happens next. Guards!”
Two bodyguards in black appeared right away. “Miss?”
Jessa pointed straight at Joanna. “Grab her. Make her kneel and say sorry.”
“Yes, Miss.” The bodyguards started toward Joanna.
Joanna just laughed, cool and unimpressed. “You might want to think twice. If you lay a hand on me, whatever happens next is on you.”
Jessa rolled her eyes. “Is that a threat? You really have no idea who you’re messing with. If you did, you’d be shaking right now.”
Joanna smirked. “You sure like to talk big.”
“What are you waiting for? Do it!” Jessa snapped at the guards.
Right then, a fresh, confident voice called out across the room. “Ms. Wade, are you throwing your weight around again?”
Jessa looked up and her face fell. Of all people, it had to be Ella.
Jessa’s expression darkened. “Ella, why are you here?”
Ella strolled over, a small, amused smile on her lips. “I came for dinner. Didn’t expect to spot you making a scene from across the restaurant. Who are you bossing around this time?”
