“Mr. Wade, I’ve set aside the best private suite at the Golden Spoon just for you. Mr. Wade, Ms. Wade, please follow me.”
The restaurant owner led Moss and Jessa down the hall, practically beaming with enthusiasm.
Jessa could barely sit still. Her nerves and excitement piled up until she had to ask, “Dad, is Mom here already?”
Moss barely reacted. “Let’s go in and see.”
“Mr. Wade, Ms. Wade, here’s your suite. Please, make yourselves comfortable.”
The owner opened the door, and Jessa hurried inside. “Mom!”
The room was empty. Joanna hadn’t arrived yet.
Moss checked his watch. “We’re early. Grab a seat, Jessa.”
Jessa nodded and perched on the edge of a plush chair. “Okay.”
A gentle chime broke the quiet. Moss’s phone lit up.
“Jessa, I need to take this call. I’ll be right outside.”
“Alright.”
While Moss stepped out, Jessa fussed with her long dress, smoothing the fabric and checking the seams for wrinkles. After a minute, she got up and slipped into the restroom. She had to make sure her lipstick was perfect.
She was still fixing her makeup when a striking woman walked into view. Joanna had arrived.
