The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 703

"Mr. Harmon, Mrs. Harmon, really, you don’t need to thank me. It was nothing at all."

"Mommy, Grandma protected me this time," Lola chimed in, her little voice as sweet as ever. "Can we go play at Grandma’s house?"

Ella paused. She wasn’t planning to leave the Capital anytime soon anyway. She still needed to wait for the Wades’ response. And with Joanna coming back soon, she was honestly curious to see Jessa’s mother in person.

"Alright, Mrs. Harmon," Ella smiled politely. "Thank you for having us. We’ll take you up on your offer."

David held out his arms. "Come here, Lola. Let me carry you."

Ella shook her head. "That’s alright,. I can hold my own daughter."

Lola looked up at her mom with wide, sparkly eyes, then turned to David. "But Mommy, I want him to carry me."

Ella was stunned for a moment. Her sweet little girl, her precious baby for three years, suddenly siding with someone else.

Before she could say anything, David scooped Lola up into his arms. Lola burst out laughing. "I’m bigger now, Mommy. I’m heavier. I don’t want your arms to get tired, so I let the handsome uncle carry me. I love you, Mommy."

Ella couldn’t help but smile. Her daughter always knew how to get her way.

Mrs. Harmon beamed at Lola. "Alright, Lola, let’s go home."

Moss brought Jessa back to the Wade house. In the living room, he fixed her with a stern look. "Jessa, do you realize what you did wrong?"

Jessa crossed her arms. "Dad, why does everyone always take Ella’s side? It’s because you all like her more that I had to do something, so I had her daughter kidnapped! Things were fine when Ella was gone these past three years. This is all her fault. She shouldn’t even be here!"

Moss’s face darkened. "Jessa, whether it was three years ago or now, you always blame Ella for everything. Have you ever stopped to look at yourself?"
