David was cold. “Jessa, you kidnapped Lola and my mom. We have witnesses and evidence. Did you really think you could just get away with it?”

Jessa whirled around, facing Ella and David. It was obvious they weren’t going to let her off the hook.

She glanced at Mrs. Harmon, but the warmth in her eyes was gone. Whatever good feelings Mrs. Harmon once had for her had disappeared completely.

Now, all she had left was Moss.

Jessa looked at him, desperate. “Dad, I’m your only daughter. You’re not just going to stand there and let them take me away, right?”

Moss didn’t answer.

“Dad, please, you have to protect me. My life will be ruined,” Jessa begged, her voice trembling.

Finally, Moss turned to Ella and David. “I need to take Jessa home.”
