Ella tried to get up.
David pulled her back, and before she knew it, her waist bumped right into the bathroom counter. He boxed her in, her back against the cool marble, his arms caging her close.
Her eyelashes fluttered. “Mr. Harmon, what are you doing? Let me go.”
She planted her palms on his chest, pushing as hard as she could.
David only tightened his hold, pressing her even closer. Their bodies were practically touching, only a thin layer of fabric between them. His voice was rough, a little unsteady. “Ella, stay still.”
She froze, realizing what was happening.
Her cheeks turned flaming red. “Mr. Harmon, seriously, what are you trying to do?”
He shook his head, looking exasperated and a little helpless. “I’m not doing anything. Ella, I’m just a regular guy. I’ve been single for three years. You look like this, standing in front of me, of course my body’s going to react.”
Ella’s face was burning. She squirmed in his arms, desperate to break free. “Let me go.”
“If you keep moving like that, Ella, I might actually do something you’ll regret.”
She went still, holding her breath.
David lifted her chin, leaned down, and stole a quick kiss from her lips.
She let out a muffled protest, then shoved him away with all her strength. “We had a deal. We’re supposed to keep our distance. If you pull this again, I’m not staying here tonight.”
Her threat worked. David finally let her go. “Fine, I won’t touch you. Go take your shower.”
Ella darted away, putting as much space between them as possible.
Just then, someone knocked at the door. Aiden’s voice came from outside. “Sir, the items you asked for are here.”
David opened the door, took the shopping bag from Aiden, and nodded. “Thanks. You can go.”
