The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 684

Ella paused.

David really was too sharp. He always knew exactly where her weak spots were and how to use them. He said, totally serious, “I’m sure Jessa’s behind this. If she calls tonight and I can’t find you, we might lose time to save Lola and my mom, right?”

Ella thought about it for a second. He wasn’t wrong. Right now, nothing mattered more than getting Lola and Mrs. Harmon back safely.

But she still hesitated. “But, Mr. Harmon, if we both stay in your suite tonight, what will people think? If your fiancée hears about it, she’ll definitely get the wrong idea.”

Fiancée?

Something dark flashed in David’s eyes. Jessa had gone after Lola and his mother. He wasn’t going to just let that slide.

He took a step closer, his tall frame casting a shadow over her. “Ella, are you hoping something’s going to happen between us tonight?”

Ella blinked, caught off guard. “Me? Want something to happen? Mr. Harmon, what are you talking about? You’ve got way too much imagination. Maybe get that checked out.”

Her quick comeback actually made him smile. “If you don’t want anything to happen, then nothing will. Even if someone finds out, what could they really say?”

Ella didn’t know how to respond.

David pressed on, “Relax. You take the bed. I’ll sleep on the couch. You’ll be totally safe.”

Since he put it that way, she really couldn’t refuse. She nodded. “Okay.”

David led her into his suite. It was huge, decorated in cool, muted colors, just like his usual style. Ella glanced around. There wasn’t a single women’s product in sight.

Only a set of men’s toiletries sat on the bathroom counter.
