The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 683

David seemed to have it out for those creepy guys, even though Ella knew she’d never actually been at risk. She had everything under control.

He glanced down at her, his voice dropping. “I haven’t even seen you wear a dress like that. Why should they get to look at you like this?”

Ella just stared at him, completely thrown off.

Was he really worried about her dress right now?

She shot him a glare. “Mr. Harmon, you’re honestly no better than them. You’re just as bad, always thinking about that stuff.”

David shrugged. “I’m a guy, Ella. Of course it bothers me when you dress up and other people get to see it.”

He remembered walking in and catching sight of her in that dress, standing there in front of those men. In that moment, he’d wanted to make every single one of them disappear.

Ella gave him another look, silently telling him to focus on saving Lola and Mrs. Harmon.

Aiden walked over. “Sir, Ms. Irvine.”

Ella’s nerves were obvious. “So? Did you catch the kidnapper?”

Aiden shook his head. “We checked every inch of the place, inside and out. There was no sign of anyone suspicious.”

“She got away again,” Ella muttered, frustration clear in her voice.

She felt let down, but she’d half expected it. Jessa wouldn’t have come to this place without planning an escape. There was no way she’d stick around to get caught.

Jessa had slipped away from her grip again.

David stepped in. “Ella, let’s just head back.”

She nodded. “Okay.”

By the time they returned to the office, it was fully dark outside. David looked at her. “So, you think the kidnapper was Jessa?”

“I’m sure of it,” Ella said. “It’s definitely her, but I don’t have any proof.”

David’s brow furrowed. He didn’t say anything.
