Sarah let out a laugh. “You’re not even on the Forbes list. Trying a little too hard, aren’t you? Honestly, I almost feel bad for you.”
Ella looked at Jessa and Sarah with a calm smile. “Who told you my name isn’t on the Forbes list?”
Jessa rolled her eyes. “I checked every single name, start to finish. There’s no Ella on there.”
Jessa and Sarah were convinced they couldn’t be wrong. Ella’s name would have stuck out a mile. If it was there, they’d have noticed.
Ella’s smile widened. “Of course you didn’t see Ella on that list. I used a different name.”
Jessa blinked, thrown off. “A different name? What name?”
Sarah cut in, her voice sharp. “Ella, give it a rest. Stop making stuff up and get out of here before you embarrass yourself even more.”
Ella looked at her, lips curling. “Funny, I’m not sure who’s actually embarrassing themselves right now.”
Just then, the event organizer stepped up and stood beside Ella. “Ms. Irvine is the guest of honor at this year’s Emerald Banquet. She’s the one everyone’s been dying to see. As the hosts, we won’t allow anyone to disrespect Ms. Irvine.”
As he spoke, a line of security guards in black suits appeared and stood behind Ella.
Jessa and Sarah’s faces drained of color. They stared at the organizer, stunned. “Ella is the guest of honor? You must be joking.”
The organizer shook his head. “The only ones mistaken are you two. Do you even know who Ms. Irvine is?”
Jessa and Sarah stared, silent.
The organizer raised his voice. “She’s Isabella, the powerhouse behind the world’s biggest pharmaceutical company.”
The truth hit like a wave.
Jessa and Sarah both froze, eyes wide. They looked from the organizer to Ella, completely at a loss.
