David was the kind of man who drew every eye the second he entered a room. He didn’t have to do anything special, just being there was enough to make every socialite and heiress turn to look at him. Heads were swiveling everywhere he went.
Jessa watched him under the soft glow of the chandeliers, her heart fluttering wildly. How could anyone not fall for him? He was at the very top now, the kind of man who haunted the dreams of half the ladies here. She couldn’t stand the idea of letting him go to someone else. Tonight, she was determined to make him hers.
While Jessa was caught up in her daydreams, Sarah was scanning the crowd, clearly on the hunt for her own Mr. Perfect. She wanted someone rich, handsome, and powerful.
Real estate had exploded in the past few years, and Lucas, her ex, had ridden the wave straight to the top. He was now one of the hottest bachelors in the industry. Sarah hadn’t wanted things to end, but Lucas had become obsessed with Lilly. In the end, Sarah had to take a generous breakup fee and walk away.
Jessa leaned in, her voice playful. “Anyone catch your eye, Sarah? I can introduce you.”
Sarah blushed, glancing down at her shoes.
Just then, a tall, good-looking guy strolled up and flashed Sarah a confident smile. “Hi. Mind if we exchange numbers?”
Sarah’s cheeks turned even pinker as she pulled out her phone. “Sure.”
They swapped numbers, and the guy grinned. “I’ll message you. Maybe we can grab a drink later.”
Once he’d walked off, Jessa nudged Sarah and teased, “See? You’re irresistible. Another one falling for you.”
Sarah giggled, looking genuinely happy. “Thanks for bringing me tonight, Jessa. I owe you.”
Jessa waved her off. “What are friends for?”
Over the past few years, both Jessa and Sarah had really thrived. They were born into privilege, were beautiful and sharp, and they knew exactly how to work a room. Some people said girls like them always landed on their feet, and in their case, it was true.
Jessa led Sarah over to where David was surrounded by a group of executives. “David.”
Instantly, the men turned to her. “Ms. Wade, what an honor.”
