The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 476

The invitation wasn’t for the Main family. It was addressed to Gavin by name.

Catherine counted the days in her head. There was less than a month left until Lance and Adelina’s wedding.

The air outside felt cool and spacious, but for some reason, she felt like she couldn’t breathe.

“So, when do you plan on going back to Cabinda?” she asked, turning away from the invitation.

Gavin answered, “I’m not planning on going. The wedding’s right around your due date. I don’t want to risk missing when you give birth.”

Catherine gave him a sideways look. “You’re not the baby’s dad. If you miss it, you miss it. It’s not a big deal, is it?”

Gavin didn’t even hesitate. “I’m the godfather. I need to be here. I can’t just leave you and Lorinda here, two single moms in Eldervale, raising kids on your own. I’d never be at ease if I left.”

Honestly, that did sound kind of sad—just the two of them, trying to manage everything on their own.

Catherine felt the warmth behind his words, and she was grateful.

“You should go, Gavin. I used to be mad at you about what happened with Patty, but that was only because you lied to me. All this time, you’ve helped me keep my pregnancy a secret. I’m thankful for that, truly. You don’t owe me anything. You don’t have to stay and look after me.”

Gavin was from Cabinda after all, and it wasn’t realistic for him to stay in Eldervale forever. Catherine herself would never set foot in Cabinda again.

“I’ll leave,” Gavin said quickly, worried she’d start another one of her long lectures. Realistically speaking, he didn’t really have a place or a reason to stand by her side anymore. “I’ll go back the week before the wedding. Happy now?”

And after that, if he wanted, he could always come back.

Catherine nodded, glancing at the invitation still in his hand. For some reason, she blurted out, “Can I see it?”

“Yeah, of course.” Gavin sounded a little uncomfortable as he passed her the invitation.
