She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 595

Gordon Lonsdale was too old to care for such parties and had been resting in his bedroom. Hearing the news Morris brought back and confirming his precious granddaughter was safe, he thought for a long time before speaking.

"Lucian is definitely not the owner of Stellar Trust. I'm certain of that. But his relationship with them is absolutely extraordinary. I've never heard of a top-tier executive assistant from Stellar Trust personally flying in on a helicopter to hand-deliver a contract to anyone."

"It's like..." Gordon pondered. "It's like they timed it perfectly so Lucian could publicly humiliate Yorick in front of all those wealthy elites. It was meant to intimidate them, warn them not to try anything funny, and ultimately establish his absolute authority."

Morris nodded in strong agreement. "Exactly. I think the whole thing is very suspicious. I'm on the exact same page as you, Grandpa."

Gordon asked, "Where is Loyce?"

"She went to the observatory deck with Lucian to look at the stars," Morris replied.

Gordon nodded, then sighed. "Since this is her choice, I trust her judgment. I don't want to lose my granddaughter. If the Lonsdale family needs to take a side, then we'll take a side."

Historically, even as the wealthiest family, the Lonsdales had always remained politically neutral. Now, for Loyce's sake, it was inevitable that they would throw their support behind the conservative faction.

Morris smiled warmly. "Things are getting interesting, aren't they?"

Gordon huffed. "Whatever happens, your ultimate goal is to protect your sister."

"Of course," Morris promised softly.

On the observatory deck.

"Stellar Trust wouldn't just hand a massive contract to a family on the decline without a very good reason," Loyce said, squinting through the telescope at the night sky. "What did you do?"

The man behind her leaned in close, pressing against her back as he turned the knob to adjust the lens focus for her.

Loyce looked back at him. "Is it inconvenient to say?"

"Try looking again," Lucian said.

Loyce peered into the telescope. The once pitch-black, blurry lens was now dotted with a sea of stars and a crescent moon.

Lucian spoke slowly. "I went to the battlefield when I was fourteen. When I was sixteen—right in the middle of my rebellious, energetic phase—I ignored my grandfather's orders. During a foreign anti-terrorism operation to rescue hostages, I went rogue, infiltrated the enemy's base, crossed a minefield, and saved a hostage."
