She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 618

"Sybil!" A sharp, furious voice cut through her pathetic begging.

Alicia rushed forward, grabbing Sybil's arm in a vicious grip. Her nails dug so deeply into the girl's skin they practically drew blood.

Alicia's face was a mask of sheer fury and the desperate panic of a plan on the verge of ruin.

She could see it clearly: there wasn't an ounce of sympathy in Thane's eyes, only unmasked disgust and mockery.

If she let Sybil continue making a fool of herself here, not only would it ruin the marriage arrangement with Horace, but they would become an even bigger laughingstock in high society!

"Shut up! Look around you—haven't you embarrassed us enough? Let's go!" Alicia hissed through her teeth. She pulled with all her strength, literally dragging Sybil away.

"No! I'm not leaving! Let me go! Thane! Thane, listen to me, you have to save me! Don't let them make me marry Horace! Please, save me!"

Thane just watched her coldly, not saying a single word.

Realizing Thane was a lost cause, Sybil then threw herself to her knees in front of Loyce. "Loyce! Loyce, I'm begging you! Please! Help me! Loyce! I'm your cousin! Just give me a chance to turn my life around! I swear I'll never fight you for anything again. I'll never try to set you up again. I was wrong, I know I was wrong! Loyce!"

Sybil thrashed and fought, sobbing hysterically. Her mascara ran down her face in thick black streaks, leaving her stripped of all dignity.

But her wails and desperate apologies fell on deaf ears. The man who used to hold her in the palm of his hand was completely unaffected, and Loyce merely watched as an indifferent bystander. Considering Sybil had actively tried to have Loyce killed on multiple occasions, there wasn't a single shred of pity in her heart.

Sybil's fate was sealed. Still kneeling, she was dragged away by Alicia and the security staff.

Once they were gone, Thane turned to Loyce. "Who is Horace Fremont?"

"A billionaire in his sixties," Loyce explained smoothly. "He used to be a very prominent developer and still sits on dozens of prime real estate plots."

Since Thane had spent most of his life studying abroad, he was genuinely out of the loop on local business tycoons. He paused for a moment before saying, "Well, if she marries him, I suppose she still got the billionaire lifestyle she always wanted."

Loyce just smiled. That was highly unlikely. According to the dossier Lucian had given her, Horace had indulged in twisted fetishes since his youth and lived an absurdly extravagant lifestyle. He had tried starting businesses but possessed zero actual business acumen, coasting his entire life on the value of his inherited land. By now, his actual cash reserves were likely hollowed out. He wasn't particularly wealthy anymore—he just retained his social connections because people were still willing to give the old man face.

Outside, Alicia shoved the sobbing Sybil into the car and ordered the driver to take her straight home and lock her in her bedroom.

Sybil banged desperately on the car window, begging her mother for mercy. Alicia just offered a cold, venomous glare. "It seems there really is a massive difference between the pure Lonsdale bloodline and the side branches. Compared to Loyce, you are utterly worthless. Go home and wait for your wedding. Aside from Horace Fremont, no one in this entire city will ever want you."

Sybil screamed, "No!"

When Alicia returned to the private dining room, she caught a glimpse of an open door down the hall. Inside, Loyce was sitting comfortably among the Sampson family. Their eyes met for a split second before Alicia hurriedly looked away.

Back in the room, Alicia immediately assured Horace that the marriage was guaranteed. She cloaked it in the guise of 'traditional family duty'—the parents had decided, and whenever he wanted the wedding, it would happen.

Thoroughly appeased, Horace officially promised to use his influence to secure the Belfry development plots for them.
