“What?!”
Darleen and Peter gasped in unison.
York wearily pinched the bridge of his nose.
The second son of the Harvest family had been the matriarch’s favorite. He died young in a car accident before he ever had a chance to marry.
Ann had not only donated a kidney to the matriarch, but she had also been revealed as the sole surviving blood relative of that deceased son.
No wonder the matriarch was so unconditionally protective of her.
She had strong-armed the eldest branch of the family into adopting Ann, officially bringing her into the Harvest fold.
Judging by the reactions of the other Harvest family members tonight, they were still in the dark about Ann’s true identity.
Darleen was dumbfounded. The Harvest family had done a great service for the Fergusons in the past. If they were determined to protect that little witch Ann, how could her brother ever get his revenge?
At the same time, Claudia was on a video call with her good friend, Rae Blake, also discussing Ann.
“Claudia,” Rae asked from the screen, “are you and Gideon still going to see where things go?”
Claudia lowered her gaze and remained silent for a long moment.
There were certainly many things about Gideon that drew her in. She had even considered giving a relationship with him a try.
But now, Ann was part of the Harvest family, Gideon’s adopted sister.
Whenever she saw Ann, she would think of York and all the unpleasant memories of her past life.
She had been the one to use Ann's brother and sister-in-law to trick Ann into returning to the country. Even if Ann didn't recognize her now, it didn't mean she never would.
Claudia didn't want to see Ann, let alone try to get along with her.
A self-deprecating smile touched her lips.
