Just then, Eddy came jogging over. “Claudia!”

When he saw York, his face lit up. He rushed over, and the “Gideon” that was on the tip of his tongue turned into, “York!”

Claudia addressed the two men. “York, Gideon, Eddy still has homework. I need to take him home.”

“I’ll drive you,” York offered.

Before Claudia could refuse, Eddy grabbed York’s arm, his excitement palpable.

“York, I have this tough math problem I can’t solve. Can you help me? I’ll get my mom to make you something delicious!”

York looked at Claudia. “Is that okay?”

Claudia hesitated for a moment before nodding. Eddy hadn't seen York in days and had been chattering about him nonstop. Even if she said no, Eddy would have found a way to go with York anyway.

Eddy happily trotted after him. “I’ll come with you, York!”

Gideon watched them leave, a hint of envy in his eyes. “Eddy seems to really like Mr. Ferguson.”

Claudia didn’t answer directly. “Gideon, I should go.”

Gideon didn’t press the issue.

Claudia’s parents were overjoyed to see their son and daughter return with York. Jessica immediately nudged Felix. “York is here! Hurry up and add a couple more dishes to dinner.”

York humbly replied, “It’s alright, I’ll just have whatever you’re having.”

Eddy pulled York into his room. “Mom, don’t forget to make ribs for me and York!”

“Okay, okay! I’ll go make them right now,” Jessica called back cheerfully.
