Claudia went upstairs, but York remained on the sofa.

When the Watkins family went bankrupt, he had paid off more than nine hundred million in their debts alone.

Even if she returned everything else, she could never repay that nine hundred million in her lifetime.

When York went upstairs, he found Claudia holding a pillow and blanket, about to move into the guest room.

He closed the bedroom door behind him, walked over to her, and took the pillow and blanket from her arms.

"As long as we're married," York reminded her, "you will sleep in this bed."

Claudia turned away, but York wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace.

Their eyes met. When York spoke again, his tone had softened. "Come on, stop overthinking things."

The raw hurt in Claudia's eyes made him lean in, lowering his head to kiss her.

Furious, she refused him. York, however, overpowered her, pressing her down onto the bed and tucking a pillow under her lower back.

Just then, his phone rang.

York immediately pulled the pillow from under her and rolled off the bed.

Claudia struggled to sit up.

The sight of him hastily silencing his phone screen grated on her nerves again.

She grabbed a pillow and threw it at him. "Is it her? Is that her calling?"

York's expression darkened slightly.

Claudia got up and lunged for his phone. York held it out of her reach.

The persistent buzzing of the phone made Claudia lose her composure. She reached out, fumbling with the buttons of his pajama top.

York pushed her away, and she completely broke down.

She threw herself at him, tearing at his clothes. "You wanted to sleep with me, didn't you? Why did you stop?"

"Claudia, that's enough!"

York placed his phone on the nightstand and swept Claudia into his arms, carrying her back to the bed.

He pinned her arms to stop her frantic struggles.

"Claudia," he said, "you don't need to sleep in another room. I'll stay somewhere else for a while. I'll come back when you've truly calmed down."
