I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 792

I forced a smile. “You'll see for yourself!”

Just as we stepped out of the elevator, we saw Mrs. Spencer waiting for us.

Her weary eyes instantly brightened when she saw me. “Zephyra, you're here!”

I hadn't seen her in a while, and she looked much more haggard than the last time we met, her eyes swollen from crying.

My own eyes welled up, and I asked in a hoarse voice, “How is Horace?”

Mrs. Spencer had told me that Horace overheard her conversation with the doctor and found out his legs wouldn't heal. He hadn't eaten for two days after that.

She had called me in tears, and I sent Horace countless messages trying to console him.

When I was about to visit, Mrs. Spencer told me he had finally started eating again, which had eased my worries slightly.

Still, I wasn't sure if someone as proud as him could ever accept that he would never walk again.

Mrs. Spencer sighed. “Ever since he found out, he's been like a different person. He just stares out the window all day without saying a word. It breaks my heart to see him like this, and there's nothing I can do.”

Mrs. Spencer hesitated, then said, “Zephyra, I'm worried Horace might do something drastic.”

I froze for a second, then immediately shook my head. “No, he wouldn't. Horace loves life. He's so positive and full of light. He wouldn't do something so foolish!”

I've known Horace for so many years. I'm sure that even though he's heartbroken and devastated, he would never do something rash.

Mrs. Spencer wiped a tear from the corner of her eye and nodded.

Tess stood by, looking completely bewildered, her gaze shifting between us.

Mrs. Spencer led me to his room. Through the observation window, I could see Horace sitting up in bed, staring out the window, lost in thought.

Tess stood on her tiptoes, curious, and peeked at his profile. “He really is as handsome as he is on TV!”
