Steven didn't move an inch, his eyes fixed on me.
"Zephyra, don't tell me you feel sorry for him now that he's a cripple and you're going to marry him again!"
My brow furrowed. "Stop talking nonsense. If you don't leave, I'll call security."
Steven was unfazed. "Go ahead and try. Let's see who the hospital kicks out!"
I was speechless.
Beside him, Gordon quickly explained, "Ma'am, the Lancaster Group has a stake in this hospital!"
I faltered. Noticing my expression, Gordon continued, "Please don't be angry, Ma'am. Mr. Lancaster was just worried about you. He rushed over in the middle of a meeting!"
Worried about me?
My face was cold. "Worried? I just came to see a friend. What is there to worry about!"
Gordon smiled slightly. "You're pregnant now, so you have to be extra careful."
The moment he finished speaking, Horace swept the fruit bowl off the bedside table. The ceramic plate shattered on the floor, sending apples rolling everywhere.
He glared at Gordon, sneering, "Enough. Stop with the devoted act! We all know what kind of person Steven is. Zephyra isn't stupid enough to fall for it!"
Gordon fell silent.
