I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 744

Myron's voice was laced with indignation. “I refuse to believe Zephyra would still want a cripple! Let Horace just fend for himself then.”

My hand tightened on the banister. What a piece of work. Horace was in this state, and here Myron was, making callous remarks.

I wanted to hear what kind of nonsense would come out of Steven's mouth next.

Steven's voice was hard. “He shouldn't have gone after the old man. He's lucky to be alive.”

I frowned deeply. Steven had already decided Horace was guilty. If Horace had really done it, Steven's actions would be justified. After all, no one would tolerate someone harming their grandfather.

But a seed of doubt remained. If Horace was innocent, I would never forgive Steven.

Myron immediately chimed in. “Exactly! He’s so sinister and vicious, how can Zephyra not see it? She defends him without even knowing the facts. You’re the one who's been taking care of her and helping her all this time.”

Myron grew more agitated. “If it weren't for the fact that she's pregnant, I would never approve of you two being together. With your status, you could have any woman you want.”

I snorted. How ridiculous. He made it sound like I was desperately clinging to Steven.

I wished he'd stay as far away from me as possible and leave me alone.

Steven's voice was cold. “You think too highly of yourself.”

Myron chuckled. “I’m just sticking up for you, because I don't think it's fair. Take my advice: use this chance to work on your relationship. She's not as cold to you as she used to be.”

Myron's words struck a chord. Ever since the hospital, Steven had been taking meticulous care of me. Even though I’d been distant, my heart wasn’t made of stone. I saw everything he was doing for me.
