I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 678

I don’t know what Gordon whispered, but Myron’s brow furrowed. He shot me a dark look but didn't press the issue further. With a cold snort, he returned to his post outside the operating room door.

We waited in solemn silence for another hour before the surgery finally ended.

Myron was the first to rush forward and ask for the results.

The doctor explained, “Mr. Lancaster suffered from too many small wounds, which led to massive blood loss and shock. Fortunately, none of the injuries were fatal. He’s out of danger for now, and his vital signs have stabilized. He may remain unconscious for a while, but that’s normal, so please don’t worry too much.”

“Most importantly, you must be very careful when cleaning him to avoid the wounds. They absolutely cannot get wet. He has so many injuries that if they become inflamed or lead to complications, the situation could become very difficult to control.”

Myron nodded repeatedly as Steven was wheeled into a private room to recover, and he quickly followed the nurses.

Gordon was about to push me back to my room when his phone started ringing incessantly. He declined one call only for another to come through immediately. Seeing his frown, I said, “I know Steven’s company isn’t bankrupt. What happened to him is a major crisis, and you must have a lot of people to deal with. Go ahead and take care of it. I can get back on my own.”

Gordon stared at me, stunned that I knew. After a moment, he managed to say, “You already know, Ma’am. It wasn’t Mr. Lancaster’s idea. I was the one who lied. Please don’t blame him.”

“I know.”

Gordon calmly refused to answer, which sent her into a rage. “Gordon! You get your paycheck from the Lancaster family! My son has been in a terrible accident, and not only are you hiding information about Zephyra, but you won’t even tell me which hospital he’s in? Do you want me to fire you?!”

Gordon turned away, moving the phone slightly further from me. I could only hear his response: “As you wish. As soon as HR sends the official notice, I’ll be gone. Mrs. Lancaster, I’m a bit busy right now. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up.”

Mrs. Lancaster shrieked, “Was it Zephyra who put you up to this? Well, that bitch is certainly clever. Not only has she tricked my son into cutting me off, but she’s also got an outsider like you wrapped around her little finger. You give her a message for me. I don’t care how clever she is, and I don’t care if my son has disowned me. As long as I’m alive, they will never get remarried!”

“You won’t tell me the hospital? Fine, I can find it myself. And Steven’s fiancée will be coming with me. If that woman has any shame, she’ll get lost now. It would be embarrassing to have me throw her out. It’s better to avoid an ugly scene!”
