Just then, the sound of heavy footsteps approached from outside the courtyard.
Galeno, who had been missing all day, stepped through the gate, lugging a large cloth sack on his shoulder.
He seemed surprised to find so many people at home, his small frame freezing for a moment before his eyes landed on Rosalind.
Rosalind raised an eyebrow. “You’re back? Grandma was asking about you all afternoon. Go eat first.”
Galeno gave a shy “Mm,” and headed inside.
Seeing the boy carrying such a large sack by himself, Dr. Lopez stepped forward to help. “That looks heavy. Let me help you… lift it!”
He grunted on the last word, the veins on his neck bulging, but the sack didn't budge.
“This… is quite heavy, huh,” Dr. Lopez said awkwardly. Unwilling to give up, he tried again, this time with both hands, gritting his teeth.
Galeno just watched him quietly, not moving.
Dr. Lopez finally gave up, his arms dropping to his sides as he panted. “Seriously, what do you have in here? It’s so heavy.”
How could a kid be this strong?
Rosalind walked over, effortlessly lifted the sack, and tossed it into the storage room. “There.”
She made it look so easy, as if she were just tossing out a small bag of trash…
Dr. Lopez’s ego shattered.
“I, this…”
Was he really that much of a weakling?
Mrs. Yates Sr. laughed heartily. “Galeno was born with incredible strength. And Rosalind likes to practice boxing. See, there’s a punching bag over there.”
Dr. Lopez forced a laugh. She certainly had unique hobbies!
Warner remained silent. He sat at the stone table, the sleeves of his shirt slightly rolled up, turning a teacup in his fingers. His eyes were filled with a probing intensity, and his cool, noble aura brought a sense of pressure to the small courtyard.
Galeno immediately noticed him and gestured with his hands: Who is he?
Taking advantage of the fact that her grandmother had gone inside to cut some fruit, Rosalind replied, “A patient.”
Galeno looked at Warner again.
Galeno’s small eyebrows shot up. Oh, a competitor. Not worthy of tea!
Dr. Lopez stared as his teacup was taken away, utterly bewildered…
Fortunately, Mrs. Yates Sr. was there to keep Galeno in line, and he reluctantly obeyed.
But his eyes, wide and innocent, remained fixed on the food as he devoured one steamed bun after another, his appetite astonishingly large.
After leaving the clinic, David hesitated.
Warner knew he had something to say and stopped, his tall figure standing straight. “Speak.”
“Young Master, he’s no ordinary person,” David said, choosing his words carefully. “There’s something off about him.”
Warner’s gaze was calm as he toyed with his bracelet, his verdict final. “He means no harm. It doesn’t matter.”
Meanwhile, inside the clinic.
Rosalind opened the sack Galeno had brought back. Inside were hard drives, gift cards, medical equipment, account ledgers, and some lists of names…
“The Gonzalez family has this much dirt?” Rosalind’s lips curled into a slow smile, a coldness in her eyes that she never showed in front of others. “No wonder they say no one in Sol dares to threaten them. They have powerful backers.”
