Go Back and I Rule There novel Chapter 39

Rosalind was still unaware that after yesterday's display of respect, Fabian had successfully convinced everyone of her “destitute” image.

She simply raised a questioning eyebrow at Warner. “I haven’t treated you yet. What fee are you talking about?”

“For yesterday’s medicated candy,” Warner said, signaling for David to come forward.

David had been itching to ask her when she would treat their young master. He held up another card, this one black with gold lettering.

“We can talk about it after I’ve treated your master,” Rosalind said, packing up her medical case.

David thought she was about to leave. “What are you doing!”

“Packing my things,” Rosalind replied, confused. “What’s wrong?”

David’s face flushed. “You haven’t given my young master his treatment yet.”

“Him?” Rosalind walked up to Warner. “Are you in a hurry?”

Warner’s voice was pleasant. “It’s up to you.”

Rosalind hummed thoughtfully before finally saying, “Then come with me.”

Come with her? Where?

Both David and Dr. Lopez were momentarily stunned.

Warner, however, simply replied with a soft, “Alright.”

Rosalind turned to bid farewell to Mr. Martinez.

Mr. Martinez wanted to follow, but he was held back by William, his attendant.

“Chairman Martinez, you’re still recovering. She said you need to rest.”

Mr. Martinez stood up, leaning on his cane, and looked out the window at the elegant young woman. “If Rose were here, she’d be about her age, wouldn't she?”

“Chairman Martinez, Ms. Martinez is blessed and will be fine,” William said with a bow. “We’re already in Sol. It’s only a matter of time before we find her.”

Mr. Martinez’s eyes took on an intensity he hadn’t shown before. “Go, send more people to Oakhelm. This time, make it public. Offer a reward for any information. I want to know exactly what went wrong.”

“Yes, sir,” William replied, taking his leave.

The wind outside rustled the treetops.
