Go Back and I Rule There novel Chapter 2

“I’ll be checking it for everyone tomorrow in the community square,” Rosalind announced calmly. “Remember to steep your herbal packs, and don’t stay up all night binge-watching that new series—the queen isn't going to die.”

Lately, the residents of the complex had become obsessed with a popular period drama.

At Rosalind's reminder, they all looked sheepish. “We’ll… we’ll be in bed by ten from now on.”

No one who knew them from their past lives would ever imagine this group of formidable figures being so obedient to one person.

Many of them were decorated veterans and officials whose identities were now classified.

Horace, the community manager, had been eagerly awaiting her return. He finally breathed a sigh of relief. “Cure-Master Martinez, I’ve been keeping an eye on your apartment, just like you asked. No one’s been near it.”

“Thank you. I appreciate it.” Rosalind, ever polite, handed him a bag of fruit.

Horace accepted it with a wide grin. “It’s no trouble at all, helping you out. I hope this means you’re not leaving again anytime soon?” He, a mere manager, could hardly keep this lot in line.

“Mmm,” Rosalind took the keys. “I’m not leaving.”

Horace beamed. “That’s wonderful! Well, I’ll let you get settled in. Just let me know if you need anything.”

Rosalind nodded.

After Horace left, she used the key to unlock the door.

The lock was old and worn, seemingly ordinary.

But as she turned the first lock, a sleek digital keypad lit up on the door.

“Activate iris scan?” a voice prompted.

“Yes,” Rosalind replied nonchalantly.

“Scanning iris. Please wait…”

“Scan complete.”

“Welcome home.”

The polite, electronic voice hadn't been activated in a long time.

With a soft click, the heavy metal door swung open automatically.

The interior instantly lit up.

Rosalind propped her chin on her hand, a flicker of interest in her eyes. “Tell me.”

“The Turner family from Prax. They’re looking for you. Offering a ten-million-dollar consultation fee. They’re even paying for any credible leads on your whereabouts. These people are loaded!”

“That's a generous offer.” Rosalind didn't waste words, tapping her finger on the phone twice. “Send me the details. I’ll take a look.”

“You got it!”

The next second, the floor-to-ceiling window transformed into a projector, displaying the information.

The Turners were an ancient, noble family that had served as guardians of the country for generations, never once shirking their duty.

From what she recalled, they once resided in the esteemed Guardian's Manor.

They had also sent out invitations to numerous renowned doctors for a week-long series of consultations at the local Caesar Hotel. They were searching for someone capable enough to treat the family patriarch, Mr. Warner Turner.

As for his condition, the description was sparse, only stating that Mr. Warner Turner had been in poor health for years and his condition was not to be discussed publicly.

It seemed there was more to this story. Rosalind stretched out her long, porcelain-pale legs. “I’ll take this job.”
