At the banquet, Warner was constantly on his phone.
This caught Mr. Martinez's attention, as he knew the young man never had a habit of carrying his phone with him.
“What business could be so important to you?” Mr. Martinez asked with a raised eyebrow.
Warner smiled elegantly. “It's not business, it's a friend.”
As he spoke, he unlocked his screen, and his expression suddenly deepened.
His long fingers twitched slightly, and for a moment, his usually calm demeanor showed a hint of a ripple.
The SanctusVIPTurner: “I already sent it.”
A reply came back quickly.
“I didn't get it. It probably got lost when my account was banned. Resend it.”
Resend it?
Warner slowly rubbed his thumb over the phone's casing, not replying immediately.
He could still remember the stifling feeling he'd had after sending the photo earlier.
Warner's gaze drifted to the side of the chessboard, and he seemed to zone out.
Mr. Martinez, seeing this, grew even more curious and was about to ask more questions.
Just then, a soft, coquettish voice came from the side. “Grandpa, why didn't you tell me you were coming to The Guild of Pax?”
It was Nicola, dressed in a long white gauze dress, looking innocent and romantic. She feigned surprise upon entering. “Warner is here too?”
Warner's expression was distant. He didn't acknowledge her familiar tone, instead rising politely. “Mr. Martinez, I have something to attend to, if you'll excuse me.”
Mr. Martinez didn't try to keep him. “Go on. Just don't forget what you promised me.”
