“Don't! Don't write that letter!” Anna suddenly shouted. If she wrote a letter, her lie would be exposed!
Rachel frowned. “Ms. Lee, what's gotten into you? You scared me to death.”
“I'm sorry, Mrs. Yates.” Anna was browsing a webpage, her speech quickening. “The payment you promised me?”
Rachel scoffed. “I'll transfer it to you.”
Once Anna received the money, she immediately bought a plane ticket.
Perhaps out of sheer terror of Rosalind, Anna couldn't help but say to Rachel, “Mrs. Yates, there's something strange about that adopted daughter of yours. You'd better be careful.”
But Rachel was dismissive. “Her? A poor girl with no power or influence? Why would I need to be careful of her?”
Anna had just opened her mouth to say, “She…” when people from the education department showed up at her door!
Hearing the sudden dial tone, Rachel said irritably, “So impetuous.”
“Ma'am! The distinguished guest has arrived!” the butler reported.
Rachel immediately composed herself. “Quick! Go get Yolanda!”
“Yes, ma'am!” The butler hurried off.
The guest the Yates family had invited today was a very important person.
Fiona of the Prax Martinez family, who had served the family for many years.
Her words carried weight.
The Martinez family was immensely wealthy. A single collaboration with the Yates Group from them would provide more money than an ordinary person could spend in several lifetimes.
When Yolanda learned who she was meeting, she also dressed up meticulously.
Mother and daughter stood respectfully at the villa's entrance, watching the approaching Rolls-Royce with eyes full of awe.
When the car stopped, Rachel hurried forward. “Fiona, it's been over a decade, and you look as prosperous as ever.”
Fiona took her arm to get out of the car. Although she was just a housekeeper for the Martinez family, she carried herself like an empress dowager. “I can't compare to you young folk.”
