The call was from her school's homeroom teacher, who sounded aggressive and clearly had ill intentions.
"Rosalind, I'm ordering you to come to the school right now! Immediately!" Her voice was loud, as if she was furious. "Your parents told me they're no longer responsible for you, that your actions are none of their business, and they have no obligation to look after you. Is that true?"
Rosalind replied nonchalantly, "Yes."
"Yes?! Then why didn't you tell me!" Ms. Lee sneered. "You got into our vocational school because of your father's connections. Otherwise, with your rudimentary medical knowledge, we never would have accepted you."
Rosalind laughed. "Rudimentary medical knowledge?"
"What? Am I wrong? Don't forget your disgraceful grades!" Ms. Lee shouted impatiently. "And don't you dare give me attitude. Your grandmother is already here. I'll talk to her first. How we deal with you will depend on your guardian's attitude!"
Click! She hung up forcefully.
Rosalind's eyes narrowed, and the temperature in the room seemed to drop to freezing.
The one thing she detested most was being threatened with her grandmother.
Rosalind crushed the teacup in her hand, then gently blew the fragments from her palm.
In that moment, it was as if her true self had emerged.
Her face was stunningly beautiful, a reflection of her own unfathomable depths.
In the past, many prominent families had gone to great lengths just to secure her services.
Now, she had to endure someone else's attitude just to attend school.
How things have changed...
In the school office, Anna Lee was saying the same thing.
"You parents without a proper education just don't know how to raise children. You let her fool around online? If she were really famous, don't you think I'd know? Besides, what skills does she have to be treating people online? Grandma Megan, your granddaughter has caused such a huge mess. What do you expect me to do!?"
Megan hurried after Anna, trying to keep up, bowing and placating her. "Ms. Lee, you're right. It's my fault for not educating her properly. But about this... shouldn't we investigate further? Our Rosalind has been a good kid since she was little, she wouldn't..."
"Wouldn't what!" Anna cut her off irritably, her tone dripping with disdain. "Are you going to say she wouldn't cheat? Then explain to me how she managed to get a perfect score on every single subject! With that folk medicine nonsense she learned from you?"
Grandma Megan frowned, arguing reasonably, "Ms. Lee, you can't accuse Rosalind of cheating based on speculation alone."
"Well, Ms. Megan, it seems you're not here to apologize, but to lecture me on how to do my job." Anna sat back down at her desk, waving her hand dismissively. "In that case, you can see yourself out. I'm busy. The school has a ton of work for me to handle. As for what happens to Rosalind, you'll just have to wait for the official notice."
Rosalind had just stepped through the door when she heard that last sentence...
