Anthony saw her hesitate and thought he had touched a nerve or overstepped. He quickly moved to apologize.

“I didn’t mean to pry. I just wanted you to know that if you need any support, you can count on me. Don’t be a stranger.”

Jade bit her lip, not knowing how to respond at first.

After a long silence, she spoke in a low, quiet voice.

“How exactly did my Master find out?”

Anthony saw the sadness in her face and lowered his tone out of respect.

“My mother told him. As for how she heard the news, I’m not entirely sure.”

In reality, it wasn’t hard to figure out.

Jade and Hudson’s fallout wasn’t exactly a secret, and rumors were bound to circulate in their elite circles.

Rory was a jeweler who constantly dealt with high-society socialites; it was inevitable she would hear the gossip.

Realizing this, Jade’s embarrassment began to fade, replaced by a sense of warmth at Anthony’s concern.

“Thank you, Anthony. I’m handling it for now. I expect a resolution fairly soon, so don’t worry about me.”

Anthony offered a final, protective warning.

“From the moment you became my father’s apprentice, you became family. If you need anything at all, just say the word. Seriously, no formalities.”

Jade nodded firmly, a small smile touching her lips.

“I will.”

After finishing a difficult volume, her body felt stiff from hours of concentration, so she headed to the garden to stretch.

To her surprise, she found Julian personally watering the flowerbeds.

Burton was sitting on a stone bench nearby, looking absolutely livid.

“Who taught you to water like that? Stop it right now! You’re going to drown my prize blooms!”

“The soil is bone-dry; how could I possibly drown them?” Julian replied dismissively, his eyes drifting toward the garden study.

Suddenly, he spotted Jade out of the corner of his eye.

Their gazes met, and he immediately set down the watering can.

“Ms. Merchant, what a coincidence. Taking a stroll in the garden?”

Jade couldn’t help but find the scene amusing, her eyes curving into happy crescents.

“Yes. I’ve finished my quota for the day, so I came out to get some air.”

She realized that the Julian in person was very different from his public persona.

In the news, he was a cold-blooded, decisive CEO. In front of his grandfather, he was just a playful young man.

“Finished already? That’s very impressive.” Julian didn’t hold back his praise.

Jade felt a slight blush creep into her cheeks at the compliment.

“I’m just doing my job.”

In her previous environment, everyone had demanded that she be obedient and “good.”

Everyone had a standard they used to measure her against.

But since she had started her restoration career, she was receiving more and more genuine validation.

And knowing it was based on her actual talent made her feel truly fulfilled.

A small, charming smile played on Julian’s lips.

“Will you be joining us for dinner tonight? Our chef is world-class.”

Jade asked on instinct.

“Will everyone be there?”

Julian nodded. “Of course. You restorers have been working so hard for us; we should play the part of the gracious hosts.”

“Alright then. I look forward to it.”

Jade agreed, but then her phone began to vibrate in her hand.

She checked the ID: it was her father, Michael.

She knit her brows slightly and looked at Julian with an apologetic expression.

“Pardon me, Mr. Foster. I need to take this call.”

“Of course.”
