Cindy only valued her for what she could provide; she had never once shown Jade genuine love. Michael was no different.
Given the circumstances, blocking them was the only way to avoid further misery.
Inside the Merchant family living room.
Cindy was panting with rage after Jade had hung up on her.

“Listen to that tone! Does she have zero respect for her mother? She’s become absolutely lawless!”
Michael tried to placate her. “She’s just being emotional. Don’t take it personally.”
“This is the ‘good’ daughter you raised!” Cindy spat, continuing her tirade.
Chloe Bennett, who had been watching the scene from the sidelines, finally spoke up.
“Mrs. Mitchell, there’s something I’ve been debating whether to tell you.”
Faced with Chloe, Cindy’s expression softened considerably.
“It’s alright, dear. You’re family; just speak your mind.”
Chloe’s eyes flickered with a hidden agenda.
“A few days ago, when my mother and I were checking property values in the Riverside District, I saw Hudson’s mistress entering and leaving a villa there. The security guard said she was the owner. I’m certain Hudson bought that house for her.”
“Of course he did!” Cindy blurted out, and then she thought of Jade, slapping her thigh in frustration.
“Jade is a total failure! Her husband buys a mistress a villa and she doesn’t even dare breathe a word about it! Yet when it comes to her own brother’s future, she makes a thousand excuses! What a waste!”
Chloe walked over and took Cindy’s arm, offering a “sincere” suggestion.
“Since they’re married, everything Hudson owns is technically shared property. That includes the villa he gave away. Jade has a legal claim to it. Since she’s too soft to ask, I think we, as her

“Well…”
Cindy hesitated.

Jade was an easy target, but the Walter family was another story entirely.
If things turned ugly, they wouldn’t be able to survive the fallout.
Chloe was about to press further when a dejected, disheveled Robert entered the room.

She knew for a fact that Robert had just racked up massive gambling debts at the casino.
With a potential payout on the table, he wouldn’t let the opportunity slide.
“Robert,” Chloe said, walking over to him with a heavy, staged sigh.
“Please help me talk some sense into your mother.”
Robert, exhausted from a night of losing money, groaned. “What is it now?”
Chloe quickly recounted everything she had just told Cindy.
As he listened, Robert’s eyes lit up, and his mind began to race with the possibilities.
If they could seize that villa from the mistress and take ownership for themselves…
He’d be off the hook for a massive asset. He could then squeeze his father for even more wedding cash, and the old man wouldn’t be able to complain.
He’d pay off his debts and still have enough to live like a king.
No matter how he looked at it, this was a guaranteed win.
“What are we waiting for? Let’s go right now!”
Chloe glanced toward Cindy.
“But your mother isn’t on board with the plan.”
“Mom!” Robert leaned in and whispered into Cindy’s ear.
“This is a sure thing. Why on earth wouldn’t we take what’s ours?”

Cindy considered it for a long moment before finally nodding in agreement.

“It’s rare for Chloe to be so thoughtful regarding Robert’s sister. As Jade’s family, it’s our duty to defend her honor. We can’t let a mistress act so arrogant.”
“Exactly! You’re so wise, Mrs. Mitchell.” Chloe laid on the flattery, making Cindy beam with pride.
Michael watched from the corner, remaining silent throughout the exchange.
Since Jade had stopped contributing to the family, if they could use her name to secure an asset for their son, it was a net positive.
That afternoon, Chloe left the Merchant residence and dialed a number.
