From Ashes of Scandals to His Embrace novel Chapter 265

Seth chatted with Laurinda, always aware of the curious stares drifting their way. He kept things polite and light. “I’d love to take you out for dinner sometime, if you’re interested.”

“It would be my pleasure, Seth,” Laurinda answered, her smile soft and composed. She figured that since Adolphus thought so highly of Sam, the Bill family was clearly on their side. She wanted to make a good impression.

“Great, it’s a date. We’ll set up a time soon.”

Laurinda nodded, the conversation dropping off naturally.

Once their small talk wrapped up, Seth’s attention shifted to York. Sam had already mentioned that York from FarrVector would be coming with Adolphus. There was no need to guess—the tall, good-looking guy in front of him had to be York.

“So you’re York, the one running FarrVector. Very impressive. Not many people your age accomplish so much.”

As soon as Seth mentioned FarrVector, a ripple went through the room. Executives from every tech company glanced over, suddenly interested. Most of them had been following FarrVector’s latest projects, hoping for a chance to connect, maybe even start a partnership. In no time, they were gathering around, glasses in hand.

Seeing the crowd grow, Adolphus slipped his arm around Laurinda and steered her away, following Sam toward Raines’s private lounge.

“I’ll take you to meet my grandfather first,” Sam said. “Felix and Agrippina got here early. They’re inside catching up with Jed and Edna.”

Laurinda glanced at Sam, a little puzzled. “You mean the Main family? Irvin’s family?”

“Yeah, that’s right.”

“Oh, so the broken engagement didn’t make things awkward?”

Laurinda’s curiosity was piqued. She raised an eyebrow at Sam, genuinely interested to know if people could still be friends after calling off a wedding.
