From Ashes of Scandals to His Embrace novel Chapter 273

Laurinda always knew her own mind, so Tanya just smiled warmly and let her take charge.

Facing Pearce, who looked like a thundercloud, Laurinda kept her tone bright and steady. “Since Jed isn’t asking Bagot for an apology, I doubt I’d get one either. I’ll just have my lawyer contact Bagot directly. Adah still owes me for my medical bills, and my horse’s treatment. Make sure Bagot doesn’t forget to pay me back.”

She didn’t wait for Pearce to respond. Instead, she looped her arm through Tanya’s and led her toward the lounge, head held high.

Once the elders had left, Seth moved through the crowd and stood next to Pearce. He glanced at Thalia, still on the ground, then spoke with a cold, steady voice. “You’ve completely ruined my father’s birthday, Charles family. I can’t let you stay. Please leave. My lawyers will be in touch about today’s damages.”

Pearce looked at him, stunned. With his status in Cabinda, how could the Bill family just throw him out? Did they really hold him in such low regard?

“Seth, are you serious?”

“Even if you stayed, you’d only embarrass yourself more. Save yourself some dignity and leave,” Seth replied, not bothering to argue. He waved to the security guards, signaling them to escort Pearce and his people out.

Back in the lounge, Edna and Tanya sat on either side of Laurinda, each holding one of her hands. Edna gently checked Laurinda’s injured palm, while Tanya thanked her for stepping up to protect Cathleen.

When Edna found out Laurinda was the one who had introduced Cathleen to her psychologist, her gratitude only grew. She even invited Laurinda to visit her home.

Jed, meanwhile, turned away from the group and looked at Adolphus. He hesitated a moment, then asked, “What do you think I should do about the Charles family?”
