Old Mr. Blake seemed much calmer than before.
He knew Sebastian was determined to marry Bella, and there was nothing they could do to stop him.
They couldn't very well pull him from his position as CEO of the Blake Group, could they?
If they did, there would be no one left to inherit the company, which would be a catastrophic mistake.
Besides, removing him now would only create more problems. The outside world would lose confidence in the Blake Group, and the stock price would plummet.
The old man had thought it through clearly, so he wasn't going to torment himself and put more stress on his heart.
If he angered himself to death, the Mercer Group would be left even more rudderless.
“Hush, Sebastian, quiet down. Your father and I are in the middle of a very interesting game. We can talk about your matters later,” his mother said.
Sebastian had come back specifically to gloat to his parents about how wonderful Bella was, especially after seeing Lillian being publicly crucified online.
He just wanted their approval, or even a single word of praise.
But to his shock, he meant nothing to them. They wouldn't give him a shred of validation.
After speaking, his mother returned her focus to the chess game.
It was obvious that both of them were still disappointed in Sebastian.
But Sebastian didn’t understand what he had done to deserve such disappointment.
The more they tried to silence him, the less he could control himself.
“You’re busy,” Old Mr. Blake said dismissively. “Since you left the child in our care, you don’t need to worry about him.”
Sebastian was already simmering with anger, and now he seized on this to make a scene.
He knew perfectly well that if his parents put their minds to raising Noah, the boy would grow up to be a capable and successful man.
But their attitude about his wedding had left him feeling cold.
And now, they had sent his son abroad without so much as a word to him.
He was Noah’s father, after all.
“Dad, Mom, don’t you think you’ve gone too far? Noah is my son. You sent him abroad without even telling me? Shouldn’t you have discussed it with me? Not to mention, Noah’s health isn't good.”
