Mrs. Blake hadn't expected Lillian to agree so readily.
She had been worried Lillian would refuse to come.
After all, Sebastian had truly handled things in a way that left no room for reconciliation.
The old couple was well aware of that.
After hanging up, Mr. Blake quickly asked, "Did she agree?"
"She did. We were right about her; she's a good kid. It's such a shame. Our family just wasn't lucky enough."
Mr. Blake sighed along with her.
By the time Lillian arrived at the designated restaurant, Mr. Blake and Mrs. Blake were already waiting for her.
"Mr. Blake, Mrs. Blake, why are you so early? Didn't we agree on a time?"
Lillian checked the time; she had arrived early herself. As the younger one, she had intended to get there first and make arrangements.
She hadn't expected the two elders to be even earlier.
Mrs. Blake walked over and took Lillian's hand. "It's been so long since I've seen you. After that whole mess at the Mercer family's birthday banquet, we made some inquiries and found out you had your own plans all along.
"You're a good kid. The Mercers aren't worth it, so it's okay that you left. Just don't be too heartbroken about it."
Lillian genuinely had nothing to be heartbroken about.
To others, watching her sever ties with her biological father and brothers might have seemed like a devastating event.
But her heart had been torn apart long ago.
Pain? She couldn't feel it anymore.
