"Dad, you disowned Lillian in a fit of anger. Are you going to apologize and ask her to come home now?
"After all, it looks like we were the ones in the wrong, right?"
Before he finished, Sabrina loudly objected. "No, I won't allow it! Lillian is the one who caused my miscarriage, who made me lose my child and my ability to ever have another one.
"This is all her doing. I don't know what tricks she used to twist the truth, but she can't do this to me.
"Martin, say something! You have to get justice for our innocent, unborn child."
Martin's expression was grim. As soon as she saw the announcement, Sabrina became extremely emotional.
He knew very well that the company's stock price and stability had held up during his few days in jail only because the public outcry against Lillian had taken the heat off him.
Still, the thought of his unborn child left him puzzled.
A police statement should be reliable.
But on the day of the birthday party, Lillian and Sabrina had been alone together.
If Lillian hadn't caused the miscarriage, could Sabrina have done it to herself?
At their age, getting pregnant wasn't easy, and Sabrina had cherished this baby. How could she bear to lose it?
Unless it was an accident, and she was determined to blame Lillian?
But then he reconsidered. Knowing Lillian's character, who else could it have been?
Martin immediately tried to calm Sabrina. "You just got out of the hospital. Don't get so worked up; it's bad for your health.
Martin truly loved Sabrina, but his sons' words struck a nerve.
He couldn't tolerate anyone challenging his absolute control over the company, not even his own sons.
Yet, without even realizing it, he had somehow given away his position as the majority shareholder.
But then again, he thought, he had intended to give those shares to his child; it was just that the child hadn't been born.
"That's enough. What are you two good for besides stirring up trouble? Are you that bored at work? If you have this much free time, you should be thinking about how to increase the company's profits."
Brandon rolled his eyes. "He's a lost cause."
Martin then instructed the driver, "To Lillian's company."
