Lillian looked at Celia.
She was hardworking, ambitious, highly educated—a rare technical talent.
She had fought her way out of the most impoverished circumstances, only to be pushed to this point by her own family.
Lillian walked over and gently took her hand. "Celia, trust me. I can help you, and it won't cause you any trouble."
Celia looked at Lillian, a mix of hope and doubt in her eyes.
Could she really help her?
Seeing the anxiety in her gaze, Lillian patted her on the shoulder. "You rest in the office. I'll go deal with them."
After hearing Celia's story, Lillian guessed that the group in the conference room was probably getting impatient.
She had underestimated them at first. Now, she had called over all her bodyguards.
She had even called the police in advance. Her bodyguards were already waiting downstairs.
Lillian went downstairs and headed for the conference room, her bodyguards following closely behind.
With this team of skilled professionals surrounding her, no one could get close, and no one could block her path.
As she approached the conference room, she could hear a commotion inside.
"Where is she? Where did your boss go? Didn't she just promise us she would handle this?
She told us to talk to her, and now she's disappeared. You'd better give us an explanation!"
Emma was trying to maintain order. "Everyone, the boss needs to get all the facts. She can't just listen to your side of the story."
As soon as she finished, someone shot back, "What do you mean, our side of the story? Just tell us, is your boss hiding from us or not?
Let me tell you, we've seen it all. It wouldn't be the first time a boss got scared and hid, right?"
Others chimed in, "That's right! The last time, Candy's boss got one of his guys to hit us, and he had to pay up!"
