Bella’s eyes lit up. A hundred million dollars?
She would make an extra ten million just like that?
It would take her years of work to earn ten million.
Besides, the way Debbie framed it added a layer of credibility.
Initially, the figure of sixty million would have made Bella immediately back out. But thinking it over, it didn’t seem so impossible.
After all, she had already lent out thirty million. If she refused to help now, it would definitely upset Debbie.
She still had money on hand, so she could spare it.
After weighing the situation in her mind, she decided it was feasible and agreed right away.
“Ma’am, sixty million is definitely a lot of money. I do have some funds, but if I lend them to you, I’ll have to divert them from something else. You know, diverting funds…”
Before she could finish, Debbie cut her off. “Bella, don’t you worry. I’ll have the money back to you in less than ten days. With ten million in interest for a ten-day loan, it won’t affect your plans at all. You’re going to be my daughter-in-law. I would never do anything to harm you, would I?”
With Debbie putting it that way, Bella found it hard to say anything else.
She agreed and immediately transferred sixty million dollars to her.
Once again, with a single phone call, Debbie had sixty million in her account.
The casino’s minders, who stood beside her and watched her spin the tale without batting an eye, were impressed by how convincing she was. But they’d heard plenty of lies from gamblers, so it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.
It did, however, raise their estimation of Debbie’s resources.
Someone who could conjure up sixty million over the phone was clearly not an ordinary person.
Their attitude toward her became even more deferential. They fawned over her, speaking respectfully, as if afraid of offending her.
