Besides, Bella had only been working for a few years. A seven-million-dollar car was still a huge expense for her.
“I had a small windfall recently, and my family gave me a lot more shares,” Bella explained. “When you factor it all in, my net worth is actually quite good now. I haven't bought a new car in so long, and I was sick of seeing all those shabby cars the Mercer family drives. It feels much better to just buy one myself.”
“Exactly. With your status and resources now, Bella, you definitely deserve a luxury car,” Hannah said. “But you really shouldn't have had to buy it yourself. Isn't the Mercer family supposed to be preparing your dowry? For a family like them, a luxury car is nothing. Besides, you’re marrying Mr. Blake. Speaking of which, with the wedding just around the corner, Mr. Blake should be the one buying you a car.”
Bella sighed. “Tell me about it. But the Mercers are all clueless when it comes to this stuff, and Sebastian is no better. If I waited for them to think of buying me things like this, I’d be waiting forever. I’d rather just buy it myself while I have the money. It’s more convenient, anyway. Things have been so hectic at home lately that it’s hard for me to get out, and I can barely even eat on time.”
“You’ve got the right idea, Bella,” Hannah said. “They’re all busy, so it makes sense for you to handle it. You can just have them reimburse you later, right? Anyway, Mr. Blake personally drove you home after work today. So, when are you two sending out the wedding invitations?”
A blush crept onto Bella’s cheeks at her friend's teasing. “Soon. Why are you in such a hurry? You think you won’t get one?”
