Lillian glanced at the unknown number on her phone screen and rolled her eyes.
“They certainly work fast,” she muttered.
From her expression alone, Leonard knew what was happening.
“They are fast,” he agreed. “But I’m a bit tired today. Ignore them. Let’s wash up for dinner.”
Lillian helped Leonard up and walked with him to the dining room.
It was a rare day that Leonard felt well enough to come downstairs on his own, so they could eat in the dining room instead of his room.
Since returning home to recuperate, Leonard had noticed that even though he and Lillian hadn't explicitly defined their relationship, they felt closer than ever.
He was completely immersed in the wonderful feeling of a new romance.
His body even seemed to be recovering faster, though Ethan couldn’t bear to watch.
He was sick of their constant public displays of affection, but all he could do was look on. After all, a workhorse like him had no time for a relationship of his own; he could only enjoy their sweet moments from the sidelines.
Lillian silenced her phone and set it aside, then sat down to eat with Leonard.
Since she hadn't blocked unknown numbers, by the time she finished her meal, her phone showed over a hundred missed calls and a long string of text messages.
However, Lillian just gave it a cursory glance and ignored it all. She helped Leonard upstairs for his scheduled check-up.
