Protect Lillian?
Only Sabrina would think that.
Two years ago, when Martin first abandoned Lillian to prison, he had felt little internal conflict. Now, having lost the child of his later years, he was overwhelmed with grief. Compounded by Sabrina's frail, weeping demands for vengeance, Martin was so furious he wanted to beat Lillian himself before throwing her back in a cell for another two years.
He spoke with the conviction of an oath. "Honey, you don't have to tell me to punish her. Not only will I not protect her, but I will personally see to it that she answers for what she's done.
She's already been taken in for questioning by the police, and I've instructed my lawyer that this matter must be handled with the utmost severity."
Sabrina looked up at Martin, her expression full of doubt.
"Honey, are you serious? You really won't protect her? You'll make sure she gets the punishment she deserves?"
"Of course. After committing such a monstrous act, she's proven how ruthless she is. Now that she's been cast out of the family, if we don't teach her a lesson, she'll just become a menace to society."
Just as he finished speaking, there was a knock on the hospital room door.
Sabrina turned away to wipe her tears.
Martin went to open it, missing the faint smile that touched Sabrina's lips.
Bella walked in, carrying a takeout container.
Martin suddenly realized that Sabrina hadn't eaten yet.
He quickly took the container from Bella, opened it, and prepared to feed her himself.
It was chicken soup from a high-end restaurant. Martin blew on a spoonful and brought it to her lips, but she just glanced at it and shook her head. "I don't have an appetite. I really can't eat.
