Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 337

Now that she and Sebastian were divorced, she had nothing to do with him.

Bella had created this mess with Debbie, so Bella could be the one to clean it up.

Lillian didn't have some savior complex that made her want to rescue people.

Now that she knew about the situation, her only goal was to steer clear of the danger and make sure she didn't get caught in the crossfire.

As for the rest, she had no intention of getting involved.

The more you meddle, the bigger the trouble.

She hated trouble. Besides, if she started asking about Sebastian's affairs, he might think she was still hopelessly in love with him.

That was a scenario Lillian wanted to avoid at all costs.

By the time she reached her floor, Lillian had already made up her mind.

She wasn't surprised that Debbie had her vices.

The woman was even more ruthless than Sabrina. Even in a casino, she probably wouldn't end up in a tragic state.

Back in her office, Lillian gathered all the documents Marcus had given her. After a moment's thought, she fed them into the shredder.

No good deed goes unpunished, and she had no intention of being a bleeding-heart fool.

After getting rid of the papers, Lillian took a short break.

A midday nap was crucial for her recovery.

When the workday ended, Lillian clocked out as usual and headed home.

She had already made plans with Victor to visit the factory over the weekend.

At the Mercer family home, Sabrina was out, and the household staff was unusually warm and welcoming when they saw Lillian return.

"The madam isn't home today, Miss Lillian. Let us know what you'd like to eat. The kitchen has already prepared a few of your favorite dishes, but there's still time to add more."

"Thank you all," Lillian said. "After all these years, you're still the ones who take the best care of me."

In this house, the care her father and brothers showed her paled in comparison to the attention she received from the staff her grandmother had personally trained.

Her father and brothers always assumed they were doing what was best for her, but they never bothered to learn her true preferences or give her the attention and care she actually needed.

In fact, after all these years, they didn't really know her at all.

They didn't know how she'd grown, what her hobbies were, or what she had accomplished.

If they truly knew her, perhaps their perception of her wouldn't be so skewed.

But maybe it was for the best. Their inability to truly understand her, their tendency to just talk at her, would make it easier for her to let go of her burdens and run toward her own future.

After requesting two more dishes from the staff, Lillian went upstairs to her room.

Whether Sabrina and Bella were here or not, this house was no longer what it used to be. She felt no sense of home here anymore.

As she stared out the window, lost in thought, a knock on the door broke her reverie.

She hadn't stayed here in a long time, having moved out after marrying Sebastian.
