Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 315

Martin wanted to object but didn't want to argue. He figured it was just a temporary change, so it wouldn't hurt.

"Alright," he agreed.

With that, he went and sat down across from Lillian.

Sabrina's face was extremely dark. As soon as she sat down, she clutched her stomach and complained of discomfort. "Martin, I think my stomach hurts a little. I think I'll skip dinner and go upstairs to rest."

Martin wouldn't hear of it. He immediately rushed to her side. "What's wrong? Where's the doctor? Isn't there a doctor in the house? Get the doctor over here, quickly."

Within two minutes, the doctor arrived and examined Sabrina. "Ma'am, it's nothing to worry about. Are you feeling a bit stressed? Just relax, take a few deep breaths with me, and you'll be fine."

Sabrina was bewildered.

She was pregnant and complaining of stomach pain. Was he not taking her seriously?

And this doctor, what was his deal? Was he actually competent?

What Sabrina didn't know was that this doctor had been recommended by the Blake family.

The elder Blakes had always been very attentive to Lillian. Even for a doctor staying at the house to care for her, they didn't want someone incompetent.

Old Mr. Blake had recommended him, and Martin had paid to hire him.

So now, the doctor Lillian hadn't even needed yet was first used on Sabrina, and his diagnosis that she was fine made Martin very happy.

In his happiness, he naturally failed to notice the displeasure on Sabrina's face.

She perfunctorily took deep breaths with the doctor. There was nothing physically wrong with her; she had just been looking for an excuse to go back to her room, wanting to avoid eating with Lillian.

As soon as Lillian returned, her daughter's room was taken, and now her seat at the dinner table was gone. She felt her status had fallen even lower than before she was married.

She was now the legal mistress of the house, yet she was being constrained at every turn.

With Lillian living here, she knew there would be no peace for her.

The thought was utterly vexing.

After Sabrina was declared fine, the maids began to serve dinner. Sabrina had a poor appetite and barely ate a few bites.

But Lillian's appetite was quite good.

She had been eating bland, nutritious meals for some time. Now that she was back, the family's long-time chefs had prepared dishes according to her preferences.

There were even a few dishes that had been her grandmother's specialties, which she had taught to the kitchen staff. They had made them for her tonight.
