Sebastian and Bella stood where they were, utterly bewildered.
Bella’s first thought was, “Could it be that some project at Lillian’s company has caught the attention of the higher-ups?”
Sebastian knew that Professor Avery wasn’t concerned about any project; he was likely worried about Lillian’s health.
But knowing this only made the indescribable feeling in his gut even stranger.
In the Rolls-Royce, the first thing Professor Avery did was express his concern for Lillian’s well-being.
“Sebastian told me you were sick. You look to be in pretty good shape today, though. No wonder we hadn’t heard from you in a while. Did you work yourself to exhaustion?”
Professor Avery had initially worried that Lillian might have contracted a very serious illness.
But seeing her now, that didn’t seem to be the case.
He felt a great sense of relief just by laying eyes on her.
Naturally, Lillian wasn’t one to complain.
Her professor was getting older, and it wouldn’t be right to burden him with her worries.
“I’m fine. I was probably just overtired a while back, so I took a break. Don’t listen to Sebastian’s nonsense; he never has anything good to say about me. Professor, why did you take such precious time out of your day to come to the launch event personally?”
Professor Avery replied, “It was an assignment. Normally, something this small would be handled by my subordinates, but the Blake Group insisted that I come in person.
Since it’s a partnership, I made some time.
What’s going on with Nathan?
He’s a partner too, and now he won’t even show his face?”
