Women were often duplicitous. Lillian was no different from any other woman. At least, in Sebastian's eyes, her tactics were nothing special.
He even felt she wasn't as skilled as Sabrina.
He had witnessed Sabrina's abilities firsthand over the years; it was no wonder Martin was so captivated by her.
Lillian's attempt at playing hard to get was, in his opinion, inferior to Sabrina's methods. If she had used a softer approach, he might have already taken her back home by now.
While Sebastian was musing over what Lillian should have done, Lillian, determined to quash any of his lingering ideas, had already told Brandon plainly about the divorce.
When Brandon received Lillian's message, he was completely thunderstruck.
Lillian and Sebastian were divorced? How was that possible? He had gone to see Sebastian just yesterday, and he hadn't mentioned a thing about it. This couldn't be happening.
"Brandon, what's with that look? What's wrong?" Colin had stayed up half the night compiling a list of shareholders, and the two brothers had been inviting them to meetings since breakfast.
How could Brandon get distracted now?
Of all times to lose focus.
Brandon sighed. "This is bad. Why does Lillian always cause problems at the most critical moments? The mess she's made for me this time is huge."
Colin was getting impatient. The company was in chaos, with endless things to do. If his sister had just given them the shares yesterday, they wouldn't be in this frantic state. It was all because of her that they were now working overtime. And now, just a short while later, another problem.
"Her again? What is it now? Is she sick? I thought you said she has a lot of people looking after her. With all that care, what else could possibly go wrong?"
Brandon didn't even have the energy to complain. He just handed his phone to Colin. "What? She and Sebastian are divorced? When did this happen? We didn't hear a whisper about it. When did she finalize it with him? Is this for real?"
Brandon felt like he'd been played by his own sister.
Yesterday, she told him she was sick but never mentioned a word about being divorced from Sebastian.
And now she sends a message announcing it, of all times. No wonder Sebastian had lent such a huge sum of money to Bella.
It was because he had already cut ties with his sister and was planning to settle down with Bella.
"She can't lie about something like this," Brandon said. "If she says they're divorced, they're divorced. I was originally planning to side with her this time. After all, she has Noah, which gives her a bigger advantage over Bella.
She was here first. I can't believe she was stupid enough to divorce Sebastian so quickly. No news, no fanfare... no question, she walked away with nothing."
"What? Nothing?" Colin exclaimed.
"She spent a fortune chasing Sebastian back in the day, and then poured more money into her startup.
She even gave him a son.
After all these years, even if there was no great contribution, there was hard work.
How did she end up with nothing?
That's pathetic.
