Lillian figured that for the foreseeable future, she'd be in regular contact with the Mercer family.
Blocking them was just becoming a hassle.
If Brandon couldn't reach her, he'd just show up at her company with a group of people, which was definitely affecting her employees' productivity.
Before, she'd been worried she was dying and had worked day and night to achieve her dreams.
Now, all she had to do was peacefully accept her treatment, and there was hope for recovery. She had more time and wasn't in such a rush to finish everything she'd planned.
She was supposed to be resting this week anyway, and staying home all the time was getting dull.
It would be a shame to miss out on the grand drama unfolding within the Mercer family.
It was almost comical to see them now, considering how united they had appeared just a short while ago.
Lillian knew that Brandon couldn't come up with that much money on short notice. To buy those shares, he would have to borrow.
And once he started borrowing, word would get out.
If he could buy the shares, did he really think Martin would be foolish enough not to compete?
Lillian couldn't help but feel a little excited at the thought.
Brandon went back and discussed it with Colin Mercer. The two brothers barely had to think about it before deciding to buy the shares.
"Brandon, I'll go borrow the money," Colin said. "It's better to rip the band-aid off. Rather than letting Dad and outsiders control us in the future, let's settle this once and for all.
"I know that after Mom passes, her shares will be split among the three of us anyway. But right now, we can only get them through a sale.
"Let's just think of it as giving Mom her retirement fund in advance as a guarantee. Even though the shares will be in our names, the dividends will still go to her. What do you think?"
"You're right, Colin. Of course there's no problem with our money being spent on Mom.
"The issue is that Lillian is the only one with the right to handle Mom's shares right now. If she weren't so inflexible, we wouldn't be in this tough spot.
"As for borrowing money, I don't want to make a big scene of it. Let's not borrow from outsiders. We should ask Sebastian."
Borrowing from outsiders could easily lead to speculation.
So they had to be careful about it.
"Alright, I'll go ask him."
The brothers planned to borrow a large sum from Sebastian. Colin reached out to him, and Sebastian agreed right away.
What was a huge amount of money for the two brothers was not a big deal for Sebastian.
He wasn't short on cash and had plenty of idle funds with nowhere to invest.
Lending it to the Mercer brothers was no problem.
However, Sebastian was having lunch with Bella when he took the call.
Bella overheard a little and casually asked, "Why would Colin want to borrow money from you? It sounds like a lot. What does he need so much for?"
