Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 96

“What do you mean?”

Daniel frowned. “Don’t tell me Emma didn’t want it?”

Evan looked at him without speaking, his silence a confirmation.

Daniel’s frown deepened, his face etched with disbelief. “How is that possible? I remember she really liked kids. There was even a time she asked me to convince you to have a baby with her. She…”

Suddenly, a memory surfaced, and Daniel fell silent.

Their eyes met, and in that shared glance, both of them recalled the incident at the company a year ago.

Dr. Morrison found the medicine and left again.

“Look… don’t blame yourself. So many people were there trying to break up the fight. No one expected her to fall. Besides, she didn’t even know she was pregnant then.”

After seeing Daniel and Dr. Morrison out, it was already two or three in the morning.

Evan returned to the master bedroom on the second floor, his earlier conversation with Daniel still echoing in his mind. It was true. No one had known Emma was pregnant, not even Emma herself.

Evan stood at the door, staring at the figure sleeping on the bed.

He slowly walked over, his upright posture finally giving way. He bent down slightly, eventually sinking to one knee beside Emma’s bed. He watched her intently, carefully tucking the blanket around her before irresistibly reaching out to brush a stray strand of hair from her face.

An extreme sense of panic and unease gripped him. His heart felt as if it were being squeezed by a powerful hand, the pain so sharp his breathing trembled.

Evan took Emma’s hand; his own fingers were slightly pale.
