Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 14

How much longer was she going to throw a tantrum?

It was incredible that Evan could say something so disgusting.

Emma sat up in bed. The comforter slid off her and onto the floor, but she paid it no mind. Her back pressed against the cold headboard as she stared intently at Evan.

Her gaze was empty, devoid of tears or any emotional fluctuation. It was so calm it was as if she were looking at a complete stranger.

For some reason, her stare made Evan feel an unnerving sense of dread.

“Alright, what happened today was my fault, okay? There’s really nothing going on with that girl. Don’t overthink it.”

Considering Emma might still be sick, Evan walked over, picked up the comforter from the floor, and draped it over her.

“There’s really nothing between us. There were so many people at the mall today. If you had made a scene, you would’ve just made a fool of yourself, don’t you think?” Evan said in a placating tone.

He reached out to take Emma’s hand, but whether she was intentionally avoiding him or not, she pulled her hand under the covers the moment he touched her.

Evan froze, then a smile reappeared on his face. He coaxed her gently, “Don’t be angry, Emma. We were fighting for so long last time. You have no idea how much I missed you every day.”

“You missed me?”

“Yes.”

Seeing that Emma was finally willing to speak to him properly, Evan quickly added, “If you don’t believe me, ask Jason. During those three months we weren’t talking, wasn't I always checking my phone, waiting for a message from you?”

Hmph. So that’s what he called missing her?
