It wasn't just Nancy who flinched. Her entire group of friends broke out in a cold sweat under Benjamin's terrifying glare.
Objectively, Benjamin's sharp, chiseled features made him incredibly handsome. But his eccentric shaved head, his overwhelming dominance, and the skull-shaped diamond earring dangling from his left ear gave him a dangerously unhinged aura.
Looking away, Benjamin asked, "How do you know she's trying to set you up?"
"Andres will walk through those doors in less than ten seconds," Maeve stated flatly.
Right on cue, Andres appeared at the entrance of the five-star restaurant, flanked by his imposing security detail.
His entrances were always unapologetically high-profile, and today was no exception.
Benjamin looked thoroughly impressed. He flashed Maeve a thumbs-up. "Brilliant."
The sight of Andres sent a wave of electric excitement through Nancy and her friends. The moment of truth had finally arrived. They eagerly waited for Maeve's world to come crashing down.
But reality completely shattered their expectations.
Andres had indeed followed the address to the restaurant, but his face held absolutely none of the furious rage Nancy's group was praying for. Instead, he was smiling.
"Maeve, I'm here to take you back to campus," Andres said smoothly.
Maeve was briefly speechless. If he couldn't think of a better excuse, he really shouldn't have tried.
Benjamin looked at him warily. "What brings you here, Mr. White?"
