Summer was about to snap back, but Mrs. Yarrow beat her to the punch.
"When exactly, and under what circumstances, did my husband make you this promise?"
Before Nevaeh could formulate a lie, Mrs. Yarrow leaned in and delivered the killing blow. "Was it in his bed?"
The entire room plunged into dead silence.
Summer mentally gave Mrs. Yarrow a standing ovation. Who on earth spread the rumor that this woman was a useless, pushover housewife? Her commanding presence was absolutely lethal.
Nevaeh's face flashed from crimson to ghostly pale. "Mrs. Yarrow, you need to be very careful about what you accuse me of."
Mrs. Yarrow coolly unclasped her designer handbag, pulled out a stack of glossy photographs, and whipped them directly into Nevaeh's face. "Take a look at your own disgusting behavior."
Caught completely off guard, Nevaeh scrambled as the photos fluttered to the floor. She looked down and felt the blood drain from her head. They were highly explicit, undeniable photos of her and Donovan tangled in the sheets together.
To Mrs. Yarrow, these images were a symbol of deep humiliation. As the legal wife of the CEO, she hadn't even been allowed to attend her own husband's birthday party. For years, she had quietly endured, secretly compiling a mountain of evidence of his infidelity to prepare for a ruthless divorce. It seemed God was on her side—Donovan losing his mind had been the ultimate stroke of luck. It was incredibly, violently satisfying.
Mrs. Yarrow let out a dark, mocking laugh. "A cheap tramp who spreads her legs to climb the ladder actually thinks she can secure an Apex endorsement? You aren't worthy of wiping the dirt off my shoes. Aiden, don't just stand there. Throw this shameless bitch out."
When faced with a shift in ultimate authority, Aiden didn't care about old loyalties. Since the crown had passed from Donovan to Mrs. Yarrow, she was his master now. He stepped up and gestured toward the door. "Miss Mendoza, it's time for you to leave."
Nevaeh had never been subjected to such degrading humiliation in her life. Especially not in front of Summer. She refused to walk away looking like a loser.
