Dark Revenge Of An Unwanted Wife The Twins Are Not Yours novel Chapter 467

Chapter 467: Communications

Athena thought the rest of the festivity did pass like a blur. But luckily, there was no hitch, or problems, or unnecessary tension. That much was acceptable.

At the moment, she was sitting on a dining chair, faced toward the sitting room, watching her family laugh over something with Antonio—trying to graft him into the fold, his proud friends too. And once again, Ewan was nowhere to be found.

However, she wasn’t surprised. There was only so much an ex-husband could take.

She took a sip of the wine in her cup, wincing a little, wishing for the obscure wine she had taken at that obscure Italian restaurant—something strong enough to knock her over. It seemed to her that the night was too long.

As she sat, poring over mundane things that were not really mundane, letting her mind roam freely on the journey that had started since she returned—and on the journey before that—her phone rang, almost shattering the comfortable chaos in the living room.

She winked at Antonio when his furrowed brows met hers, and slipped out of the room into the hallway.

There she met Lucas, who now looked like he hadn’t been in the shadows of death weeks ago, arguing over something with Margaret.

She pursed her lips when they paused, eyes darting between the both of them. "Is there anything wrong?" she questioned, deciding the call could wait.

The silence told her that the duo weren’t sure whether to burden her with the details of their fight. She would have left it to them, having no insane urge to pursue the truth, but for the guilty look that assuaged Margeret’s eyes.

Now what?

"Lucas, do you want to share?" she pressed then.

Why was Margaret looking guilty? What were they hiding from her?

Lucas meanwhile, looked at Margaret—only for a second—before feeding Athena the truth. "Fiona contacted her."

It took a second for Athena to move, to break away from the surprise.

Fiona.

Her mouth opened a fraction, her eyes widening the same.

Aware of the beautiful chaos in the living room—a game going on, much as her ears could pick—she didn’t want to be distracted.

"Follow me," she said, moving quickly past them.

In the room which had served as Lucas’s recovery room at one time, one which had been cleaned thoroughly such that there was no inclination that this had served as a ward somehow, she gestured. "Let’s sit down."

As Athena spoke, she sat on the bed and gestured to the sofa propped against the wall. Lucas shut the door behind him and obeyed, sitting with Margaret on the sofa.

"Now, explain to me what you are talking about..."

Margaret pushed herself almost off the sofa, her attention solely on Athena, pleadingly.

"Please... I don’t want you to think that I would betray you..." she paused, shaking her head, her eyes yet on Athena’s intense ones. "I just didn’t want anything to disrupt the happiness of your day. I was trying to convince Lucas that we wait till tomorrow at least..."

Athena could understand that.

"It was only a message to know how I was doing. It had come from a strange number, but I knew she was the one. That was her style of messaging."

As Margaret spoke, she brought out her phone, stretching it over to Athena, who accepted it quickly.

She pursed her lips as she read through. The same messaging style indeed. It was Fiona. Only that this time, she was expecting an answer from her mother.

Athena frowned. Wasn’t she scared of the people locating her mother?

But then, that information–merely pleasantries–wouldn’t be on par with the formula needed to cure the grey variant. It could be neglected. She reasoned, returning the phone to Margaret.
