Chapter 504 The Truth No One Could Ignore

If the rumors outside continued, Emery might truly break down, perhaps even do something extreme.
So no matter what, this had to be put on hold and discussed another day.
On the surface, everything returned to how it had been before, as if nothing had happened at all.
But once something had happened, there was no way to pretend it never had.
Especially something of this magnitude. For a woman, for a wife, it was impossible to process in just a few days.
Emery still could not pull herself together. She was dispirited, drained, barely able to summon any energy át all.
Raymond and the Nygard brothers were deeply worried.
There was no way to keep this from Ursula and Thea.
Both women were stunned. Ursula, in particular, felt there was something deeply sinister about it all.
“So Regina is back? I knew she was no good back when she deliberately tried to seduce Raymond.
“And her biological father was rotten to the core. He ended up sentenced to life in prison. Now even his daughter turns out to be so calculating and scheming.”
Ursula was furious. She had never imagined that woman would linger like a ghost, still entangled with her son after all these years.
What was terrifying was that it had been hidden for so long.
“But Gianna is Raymond’s illegitimate daughter. That makes things complicated,” Thea said helplessly, frustration evident in her voice.
She had assumed Gianna was only an adopted child.
Even as an adopted daughter, she had been difficult to deal with. Everyone had protected her like a hen guarding its chick.
Now that she turned out to carry Nygard blood, there was no chance of sending her away.
And what about the poor Emery? How could she not fall apart after learning the truth?
The girl she had loved and raised as her own daughter turned out to be the child of her husband and his former lover.
Just thinking about it was enough to make someone want to die.
It was far crueler than any betrayal she had suffered before.
“Hmph. Even if she is Raymond’s illegitimate daughter, so what? I’m not about to acknowledge someone
who was rotten from the start.

“If it weren’t for her, my precious granddaughter Amelia would not have suffered so much.

“I was almost fooled by Gianna myself back then. Thank goodness I woke up in time. Now my heart only aches more for Amelia.”
Whenever Bridget spoke of Gianna, her anger was uncontainable.
Now that she knew Gianna was Regina’s daughter, her disgust only deepened.
As expected, like mother, like daughter.
At her age, she could no longer involve herself too deeply. All she could do was ask Thea to spend more time comforting Emery and helping her see things more clearly,
The Nygard brothers were not known for exemplary character in everyday matters, but when something truly important arose, they were unusually united.
They felt Amelia needed to know about this, in hopes that she might find a way to comfort their mother.
Meanwhile, in her office, Amelia was still pondering how to flush out the biggest traitor when the Nygard brothers appeared.
All three stood directly in front of her. It was impossible not to notice them.
“You’re all standing in front of me like this, blocking my view. What exactly are you trying to do?” she asked coolly.
This was the first time Amelia had ever faced all three of them together.
Usually, they only crossed paths at events, shoots, or banquets, trading a few barbed remarks before parting
ways.
Aside from Marcelo once approaching her privately to make peace, this was entirely unprecedented.
Were they plotting something again?
The likelihood seemed high. Amelia’s striking eyes narrowed slightly, a dangerous glint flickering within them.
Watching the three of them shove and nudge one another only made her more suspicious.
She folded her arms across her chest and swept a cold gaze over Marcelo, Miguel, and Maxwell, her voice edged with sarcasm.
“Just say it. The three of you showing up together. What is it? Don’t tell me you suddenly found your conscience and want to get along with me.”
Miguel cleared his throat and spoke through his disconifort. “Amelia, we’re here because of Mom.”
