Marie saw the staff member emerge with the DNA report.
Her first instinct was to snatch it, but she wasn't faster than Richard.
Richard’s face was grim, creating a suffocating tension in the air.
Marie watched him, her eyes filled with desperation and anxiety.
Richard said gravely, “It's not time to open this report yet.”
Marie asked uneasily, “Dad, what do you mean?”
“Not everyone is here yet. We'll open it when they arrive.”
Marie frowned, wondering who Richard was waiting for.
Just then, she heard Richard say, “They're here.”
Marie snapped her head up and saw Natalie and Terence approaching.
Seeing them, Marie instantly lost control.
What were they doing here?
“Natalie!” she shrieked. “You killed my brother, and now you won't leave me alone! How dare you make up a lie that I'm not my parents' biological daughter?”
Natalie looked at the fuming Marie with a cold expression. “You know better than I do whether you're their daughter or not.”
Marie was about to burst with anger.
Richard faced Terence. “Terence, the DNA results are in. If Marie is my daughter, what are you going to do? Surely you don't think you can falsely accuse my daughter and pay no price?”
Hearing Richard, Marie grew bold. “That's right! Natalie, don't think you can do whatever you want just because you have Terence backing you up. How dare you accuse me of not being my parents' daughter!”
